The remainder of the land is large enough whereby both permaculture can be practised and a spacious ornamental garden comfortably laid out without compromises. On the east side of the plot, there is a private spring that supplies fresh, clean mountain water all year round. This means you can have your permanent water supply for a fraction of the cost (about €1000 including pumps, filters, stainless steel container and labour) of drilling a well, which will set you back at least €5000 in this part of Portugal. Also on the east side, there’s a small stream that can be used to irrigate the gardens and land.
