This Quinta always had the reputation of being a beautiful place where nearby villagers went to have their corn and grain milled, do their washing, have a swim or work on the field or in the mills. For centuries there always lived a few families until 35 years ago when the place was left abandoned. Six years ago we started clearing the wilderness and restoring both buildings and terrain. A big but very inviting task because of the beauty and possibilities. The terrain is very divers with lots of different atmospheres and natural surprises. It’s attractive every time of the year especially because of the river (Dão)and the 200 m. long peninsula. The beginning of the peninsula provides a calm area in the river and therefore you can swim in it all year round. This part of the river Dão is clean and vital. You can encounter otters, kingfishers, fish, frogs and birds.

About water: several renovated springs and wells also one for excellent drinking water. Taps are gravity fed because water comes from about 25 meter height. Pipes for buildings are put underground. A 200 l. sun-boiler and a small one for hot water. There are a shower, we and bidet, two well equipped kitchens and a washing machine. And a network of watertanks and -hoses for the gardens.

Electricity by means of nine solar panels, an inverter and four gel batteries with about 10 Kw. Storage capacity. Additional power, if necessary can easily be arranged by using the water flows through the mills besides the summertime.

Winter heating by good wood stoves which have been installed in four different spaces.

Location: 15 km from Viseu, 10 km from Tondela. Really quiet and invisible from all sides on a south facing mountain side. A village at 2 km with grocery store and cafe and one at 3 km with supermarket, post office, bank, dentist, doctor, schools, restaurant etc. Good access!

Terrain description: It runs from the top of the mountain down to the river. Lots of-terraces with granite walls, rough parts and an oak forest with shady terraces where. one can camp or build cabins. Nice boulder formations everywhere. Sunny terraces have been planted with all kinds of fruit trees. Altogether there will be over 100 young fruit trees on the terrain of all the kinds that suit the local conditions. Bordering plots are not in use at all. A simple infrastructure makes it possible to approach the living spaces with a car if necessary. There’s a large parking area with two 20 ft storage containers and a smaller one and building materials.

Houses etc.: there are 5 registered buildings most of them renovated and in use. Besides that there is a yurt with 6,7 m diameter. A facility building from cypress wood. 3 touring caravans, each under a large roof under oak trees.

Included: lots of good tools, machines, scaffolding, ladders Plummer materials, etc, to proceed the renovation and terrain maintenance. A 4×4 forklift truck which also powered the wood splitter. A 4×4 pick-up truck. All the furniture and house equipment. Solid cotton tents in different sizes with mattresses etc. And lots of other necessities. We consider this a place to really come to yourself because nobody hears/ disturbs you. We are very grateful to have lived here until now, but it is time for us to move.

This Quinta is ready for a small community that likes to take care and enjoy the abundance of nature.

They are 54.018,31 m² for the terrain and 270,40 m² for the building area.
